Barbara Banno for Ward 2

I’m On Top Of The World!

Written By: It's Time Team - Mar• 09•11

Barbara’s Campaign Crew packed O’Maddy’s last night in anticipation of the outcome of the Ward II election.  Many family and friends worked long hours and kept the faith along with Barbara.  It was very stressful towards the end for Barbara because she decided to take the “high road” till the end and was triumphant with the citizens of Gulfport supporting her in an almost 70 to 30 margin.  She said “I’m on top of the world” and had a huge smile that beamed across the room to all her supporters and well wishers. Congratulations Barbara, Gina, and the rest of the family and friends that helped her get elected.

The GulfportPatch was there to catch the excitement:

Gulfport Expects Fiscal Responsibility

Written By: It's Time Team - Mar• 04•11

I want to commend the GulportPatch on a great article helping voters understand more about the candidates for Ward 2. No matter how you state the facts you cannot put both these candidates in the same fiscal category. Yes, Ms Banno has a few issues to deal with but there definitely is no pattern of poor fiscal responsibility. On the other hand Mr. Taylor has a long record of overextending himself and buying real estate to only file for Chapter 13 bankruptcy so someone else has to foot the bill for his lack of fiscal responsibility in his own life. What will happen to Gulfport with this kind of attitude when he is put to the test to make tough fiscal decisions for the citizens of Gulfport? Should Gulfport just file for bankruptcy and follow Mr. Taylor down the sewer when the decisions get tough or should they elect a candidate who clearly has established a profitable business in Gulfport in record time. If I were giving up my checkbook to manage to either of these candidates my choice would clearly be with Ms. Banno.

Gulfport grows with help from tourism

Written By: It's Time Team - Feb• 28•11

Lets face it and be real here, without tourist dollars coming to Florida a lot of our local small towns would struggle to make ends meet. We surely don’t want to turn into a Las Vegas but Gulfport has a small town charm that many people who visit Gulfport on vacation remember as they return home. Many come back every year and spend money in Gulfport, to turn our back on this crucial outside support factor is to loose touch with reality. Barbara understands this is needed for slow controlled growth in Gulfport.

Gulfport Patch Question of the Week #6 is:

“What are your thoughts about increasing tourism in the waterfront district?”
